Start a Blog, Monetize and Don’t Wait

One can’t move much without coming across claims like making money online, how it is easy and how everyone can do it. After having experienced with some of the more obvious ways to skim the milk from new models of income by blogging, the best I can say is; Making money online is easy, and yes anyone can make. money. All it takes is a little hard work. There is no short cut to it. And that is how it is.

Yes, many people are successfully making money. If they can why can’t I, someone may ask. So let us see who are making money by blogging. I find they are geeks, nerds, techies with good knowledge of computers (html and coding) or are heavily staffed organizations. They have over saturated the niches for computers, gadgets, photography, graphic designs and the like. You need to compete with them? If not, then find out what you like and are good at. The most surprising thing is that some people want to make money by blogging but they have not decided what to blog about. I would suggest if you have nothing unique (ok fairly unique) to tell and add value then don’t start. And those who do, may make their first $100 with Google Adsense within than nine months. The beginning has always been like that.

Second, those who have flair for writing can make good money with high Google PR blogs by writing reviews of products and services on their blog. Here some blogger would find it difficult to write about subject like mesothelioma lawyers, consolidate loans, refinancing mortgage, tax attorney, ameriquest mortgage, mortgage refinance or about an all inclusive holiday package to a place they have not even heard about. Start learning.

So what are the options? You can start a blog, put in your best and do so consistently over a period of time, six months to a year, the money shoul follow and will follow. There is no other way. (Also posted here)

Blogs are Filters for Mainstream Media

I use the blogs as a filter. I don’t read any mainstream media directly. I don’t subscribe to any newspapers. The magazines I subscribe to are not mainstream. We don’t watch television. I never go to New York Times or Wall Street Journal by typing an address into the browser bar. I read a ton of mainstream media when the blogs point me to it. So I read a lot of stories from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and many others, but only because somebody I trust brought them to my attention.

This is why I consider Blogs are Filters for mainstream media. I hope you would agree with me?

Blogs and Books are Focused

I’m not forcing to invite my audience here. I’m trying to keep it focused on my interests. I feel that I don’t have to worry about boring 90 percent of the audience—because [the audience for my blog] self-selected themselves as wanting to read this, I can be much more authentic and much more liberated to talk about what I really want to talk about, rather than trying to anticipate the needs of a scattered, diverse audience like a magazine has.

By the way, I find blogging ruins me for magazine writing. It’s difficult to write for magazines right now, which is ironic given that I’m a magazine editor. It’s difficult because magazines are a kind of one-size-fits-all product, and the audience is large, with differing interests. You have to write something that tries to satisfy all of [your readers] or many of them, whereas a blog is very self-selecting. If you’re interested in what I have to say, fine. If you’re not, that’s great—go somewhere else.

The book is also self-selecting. If you’re not interested in the concepts in the book, don’t buy it. If you are, I’m going to go deep, and that’s great. But books—and blogs—are focused, whereas magazines are not.

Blogs are The Cottage Industry

Giving voice to millions and enabling individuals to spread their presence across the world, blogs—or at least writing and editing blogs—are the cottage industry of the 21st century. Drove of people make their living as bloggers. Some sell products and services, but it is becoming more and more common for bloggers to earn a living by creating content. Example are Shi and bingkee.

Interestingly, the majority of bloggers being paid for their writing are not preoccupied with search engine optimization (SEO)—held by many to be the “secret” to making money online.

A blog can help you establish a voice and identity online, can help you position yourself as the authority in your marketplace, and can give you a great avenue into learning more about what makes your customers tick.

What kind of blog you have, would you explain a bit about your blog here.
